Collaboration Workshop

Collaborate to Elevate your writing to the next level.

Co-Writing, the art of playing well with others.

Have you ever wondered why today's big hit songs usually have two or more writers? There are so many benefits to creative collaboration!

This hands-on, collaborative workshop will delve into the world of Co-writing, it's many benefits, how to successfully navigate the etiquette of the writing room and avoid potential pitfalls.  You will learn how co-writing will enable you to take your songs to places that you could not have reached on your own and come away with a new array of tools for your Songwriter Toolbox.

Dawn Kenney is an award winning singer/songwriter and has had much success with co-writing. In 2016 she had multiple songs on the charts, a #1 and 3 songs in the top 20 (all of them co-writes) on the Roots Music Report and Bluegrass Today Charts. Dawn spends a great deal of time writing with other songwriters & artists .. an important craft to learn and is eager to give us her insight on the subject .. the who, how, whys!

THIS IS A NOT TO BE MISSED EVENT...

3rd Annual RISA Performing Songwriter Results -
Congratulations to Lisa Bastoni

 alt

This evening started with a palpable level of excitement in the air!  As the house began to fill our three finalists were in the green room swapping stories of their musical travels.  Robinson Treacher, Lisa Bastoni and Seamus Galligan were on deck for the finals of the RISA Performing Songwriter as they were to open for headliner Tret Furey.

Each of the finalists performed the 2 songs that were submitted and had the opportunity to show how their instrument, vocals and stage presence paired up with their songwriting skills to move a roomful of attentive listeners. I can tell you that they did just that with some wonderful songs.

All of the finalists did their very best, but one had to be chosen!  Congratulations to Lisa Bastoni!  Lisa's award is an 'opening' spot on next seasons Stone Soup Coffee House schedule.  Tret said, "You all performed beautifully. It was really hard to pick just one!"

We would like to thank Stone Soup Coffee House for their partnership on this event the past three years.  We'd also like to thank Rick Wahlberg as the host of the evening and Chuck Williams as the MC for the performing songwriter contest. Additionally we'd like to thank our judging committee members as well as Tret Furey for being the finals judge!  Overall this event involved 60 RISA members and Stone Soup volunteers. It truly does take a village...
